Social Security – Withdrawal Agreement rights
On 31st December 2020 the Brexit transition period comes to an end which will affect social security coordination for some people.
If you are an EU citizen and you moved across the border or started a cross-border job by 31st December 2020 then the Withdrawal Agreement applies to you and EU social security rules will continue to apply to you.
This means for example that migrant workers, frontier workers and retired workers will have their social insurance contributions protected, can continue to claim pensions and certain benefits will continue to be exported.
